Check a calibration

Use this page to check that a calibrated display still meets your display standard. A check measures the display but doesn't change its calibration.

Check your displays between calibrations, for example every month, or as your standard or medical physicist recommends.

Before you start

  • The display has been calibrated with ViziCAL.
  • The display has been switched on for at least 30 minutes.
  • Your photometer is plugged in, or the display has a built-in photometer.

Steps

  1. In the Displays list, find the display.
  2. Click Check Calibration on its card.
  3. If ViziCAL asks you to choose a photometer, choose one and click Next.
  4. When the screen says Place Photometer Over Black Square, place the photometer flat on the screen over the black square. Skip this if you're using a built-in photometer.
  5. Click Start Check.
  6. Don't move the photometer or use the computer until the check finishes.

The number of grey levels measured is set by Verification Points in Calibration Settings. 18 Samples (VALID for Certification Check) matches the TG18 standard, and is the only setting for which ViziCAL scores GSDF conformance.

What you'll see

  • The results panel and graphs show the check results, with a pass or fail for each test.
  • The check is added to the History tab.
  • If the display no longer meets the standard, the results show which tests failed. Calibrate the display again (see Calibrate a display).

Automatic checks

Displays with a built-in photometer (LG and WIDE) can be checked automatically by ViziCAL Apply, on a schedule you choose. See Internal Photometer.
