Activate your licence¶
Use this page to activate ViziCAL on a computer. Activating links the computer to your organisation. You need an active licence to calibrate displays, save reports and upload results.
Each licence works on one computer at a time.
Before you start¶
- ViziCAL must be installed. See Install the app.
- Your organisation needs a licence that isn't in use. You can see your licences in your web account under Technical → Licences.
- The computer needs an internet connection.
There are two ways to activate:
- Sign in with your web account. This is the easiest way. ViziCAL picks a free licence from your organisation for you.
- Type a licence key. Use this if you've been given a key, for example by your distributor.
Activate by signing in¶
- Open ViziCAL.
- Click Activate License.
- Under Get next available license, type the Username and Password you use for your web account. For Username, type your email address.
- Click Get Next Available License.
A message says the licence was applied. It also tells you whether the licence includes the web service, and how many licences you have left. Click OK.
Activate with a licence key¶
- Open ViziCAL.
- Click Activate License.
- Under Activate License Using Code, type or paste your key into Enter your Activation Key.
- Click Activate.
A Licence Status message says whether the licence is valid. Click OK.
Note
The Your CPU Key box identifies this computer. Support may ask you for it. Use Copy CPU Key to copy it, then paste it into your email to your distributor or MyXrayDose support. Don't share it anywhere else.
Name this computer¶
The first time ViziCAL opens on a computer, the Owner Information window asks you to describe the computer. This information appears on your calibration reports and in your web account.
- In Title, type a name that tells this computer apart from others, for example Reading Room 2 – PACS 1. It must be at least 3 characters.
- In Computer Location Description, choose a location from your organisation's list, or type a new one.
- In Owner Name and Owner Address, type the name and address to show on reports.
- Click Next.
If you click Skip, ViziCAL asks again next time it opens. You can change all of this later in Settings → Owner Info.
This window appears when ViziCAL first opens, before you activate the licence, and again each time ViziCAL opens until the computer has a name.
Choose what the workstation is used for¶
Next, the Select Workstation Intent window asks what you use this computer for. ViziCAL uses your answer to choose the right calibration settings.
- Under I am using this workstation for:, choose one:
- Radiology Images (DICOM): for reading or reviewing X-ray, CT, MRI and other medical images.
- Colour Medical Images (sRGB): for colour images, such as medical photography.
- If you chose Radiology Images (DICOM), the Technical Standard window opens. Choose the standard your organisation follows under Select applicable professional standard, and the type of display under Select display category. Then click Finish.
If you're not sure which standard to choose, ask your medical physicist or radiology manager. You can change it later in Settings → Display Standard.
What you'll see¶
- The Activate License button no longer shows in the main window.
- In Settings → Owner Info, Licensed Organisation shows your organisation's name. It can take a minute to appear.
- In your web account, under Technical → Licences, the licence shows the name of this computer.
Common problems¶
- The message says the licence wasn't acquired
- Read the reason in the message. Usually all your organisation's licences are already in use. Release one you don't need any more in your web account under Technical → Licences, or buy another in Purchases → Shop.
- The message says there was an error during activation
- ViziCAL couldn't reach the ViziCAL website. Check that the computer can open websites, then try again. Some hospital networks block new programs. If it keeps failing, ask your IT team to allow ViziCAL to connect to the internet.
- I want to move a licence to a new computer
- Release the licence on the old computer first. Then activate it on the new one. See Move a licence to another computer.
- I need help from support
- Error messages have a Copy details button. Click it, then paste the details into your email to support.
