Install the app

Use this page to download ViziCAL and install it on a Windows computer.

The installer adds two programs:

  • ViziCAL: the app you open to calibrate and check your displays.
  • ViziCAL Apply: a small program that starts with Windows. It sits in the notification area (next to the clock), applies each display's calibration when you sign in to Windows, and reminds you when checks are due.

Before you start

  • You need a ViziCAL web account with at least one licence. See Create your web account.
  • Your role must be Customer Admin or Technical to download the app.
  • You need a Windows administrator account, because ViziCAL installs for all users and adds a background Windows service. In most hospitals this means help from your IT team.
  • The computer needs Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8. Windows 10 and 11 already include it. If it's missing, the installer offers to install it.

Download the installer

  1. Sign in to your web account.
  2. In the top menu, click Technical → Downloads.
  3. Find the latest ViziCAL release in the list. Check its Version and Released date.
  4. Click Download.

Note

If the page says No downloads are available for your licences yet., your organisation doesn't have a licence yet. Buy one in Purchases → Shop, or ask your distributor.

Install ViziCAL

  1. Close any other programs.
  2. Open the installer file you downloaded (a .msi file).
  3. If Windows asks whether you want to allow the app to make changes, click Yes.
  4. Follow the steps in the installer. Keep the suggested install folder unless your IT team says otherwise.
  5. When the installer finishes, leave Launch ViziCAL now ticked if you want to start ViziCAL straight away, then click Close.

What you'll see

  • A ViziCAL shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu.
  • The ViziCAL Apply icon in the notification area. If you can't see it, click the ^ arrow next to the clock.

Connect your photometer

Plug your photometer into a USB port on the computer before you open ViziCAL. Plug it straight into the computer, not through a USB hub or the display's own USB ports.

If your display has a built-in photometer, you don't need to plug anything in.

Common problems

Windows says it can't install the app
You probably don't have permission to install software. Ask your IT team to install it for you.
I upgraded from ViewIQ
ViziCAL is the new name for ViewIQ. Your calibrations, settings and history are kept.
