FAQ

Short answers to common questions. Each answer links to the full page.

Licences and accounts

Can I move my licence to a new computer?

Yes. Release the licence on the old computer first, then activate it on the new one. See Move a licence to another computer.

What's the difference between a Connected and a Standalone licence?

The shop now sells one licence, the Workstation licence, shown as Connected on the Licences page. With the web service on, its results and reports are kept in your web account. A Standalone licence, from earlier orders, works on its own computer only. See Licence types.

How is the web service charged?

It's on or off for your whole organisation. There's nothing to pay when you switch it on. Each year you're invoiced for the workstations using a licence, with a part-year charge for workstations added during the year. See How the yearly charge is worked out.

What happens if my web service ends?

The app keeps calibrating and checking your displays, but Upload Results isn't available until you renew. See Web service & billing.

What happens to a computer's history when I release its licence?

If you release it from your web account, the history is saved to a ZIP archive under History archives on the Licences page, and emailed to your Customer Admins. See Licences.

Do I need a new account if I used the old myxraydose.com website?

No. Sign in with your email address, or your old username, and your old password. See Sign in.

Can a colleague use my web account?

Each person should have their own account. A Customer Admin can invite them in Admin → Users. See Users.

Calibration and checks

How often should I calibrate my displays?

Follow your display standard and your medical physicist's advice. ViziCAL Apply reminds you when a calibration is due, based on Calibration reminder frequency in Settings → License. See License.

What's the difference between a calibration and a check?

A calibration measures the display and corrects it. A check measures it and compares it with the standard, without changing it. See Check a calibration.

What's the difference between a check and a visual check?

A check measures the display with a photometer. A visual check is you looking at test patterns and recording what you see. Many standards ask for both. See Run visual checks.

Do I need to keep ViziCAL open?

No. ViziCAL Apply keeps your calibrations applied when ViziCAL is closed. See ViziCAL Apply.

Why does ViziCAL say the calibration doesn't pass, but it's still applied?

The calibration is the best ViziCAL can do with the display as it is. The message lists what to change, such as the display's brightness or the room lighting. See Calibrate a display.

Why did my calibration stop by itself?

A display or USB photometer was connected, disconnected or reset during the calibration. ViziCAL stops to protect the display. Start again when everything is connected. See Troubleshooting.

What does the first calibration's black and white flashing do?

It times how long the screen takes to settle after a change, so ViziCAL waits long enough before each reading. It happens once for each display. See Wait after each patch change.

My display has a built-in photometer. Do I still need an external one?

Not for routine checks: ViziCAL can check the display with its built-in photometer automatically. Calibrating with both once makes the built-in photometer agree with the external one. See Internal Photometer.

What's the difference between ViziProfiler and ViziCAL?

ViziProfiler tests your displays before calibration and recommends the display setting to start from. ViziCAL calibrates and checks the display. See ViziProfiler.

Does ViziProfiler change my displays?

Only while it measures. It records the settings first and puts them back at the end, unless you choose to apply the recommended settings. See Results, finishing and reports.

Reports and data

Where are my reports?

ViziCAL opens each report when you save it, and lists them all in History → Previous Reports. If you upload results, they're also in your web account under Technical → Reports. See Save reports and upload results.

Can I export results for an audit?

Yes. In the app, use Export CSV in the History tab. In your web account, use Technical → Reports for Excel or CSV files, and Compliance report (PDF) on the Overview page.

What does ViziCAL send to the ViziCAL website?

Calibration and check results and reports when you click Upload Results, visual check results when you post them, and a short status update when Windows starts (if switched on in Settings → License). Ask ViziCAL AI sends only what you check and approve.
