Settings: Internal Photometer¶
Use this page to set up displays that have a photometer built in. ViziCAL can use it to check the display automatically, and recalibrate it if needed, without you placing a photometer on the screen.
Open Settings → Internal Photometer. This section was called LG in earlier versions.
Choose the manufacturers¶
Under Use the built-in photometers of, tick each manufacturer whose built-in photometers ViziCAL should use, for example LG and WIDE. Each shows how many of its displays are connected.
If you untick a manufacturer, ViziCAL doesn't look for its photometers and doesn't check its displays automatically.
Automatic calibration checks¶
These settings are greyed out when no display with a built-in photometer from a ticked manufacturer is connected.
- Apply to: check All displays with an internal photometer, or Or selected displays and tick the displays.
- Automatic calibration check frequency: how often ViziCAL Apply checks each display, from Hourly to Annually. At user login or daily checks once a day.
- Maximum frequency of auto calibration: how often a display may be recalibrated automatically when its checks fail. When checks show calibration needed recalibrates whenever needed.
- Match calibration of external photometer: correct the built-in photometer's readings so they agree with your external photometer. ViziCAL learns the correction when you calibrate the display with both.
- Apply calibration to display LUT: store the calibration in the display itself, where the display supports it.
Automatic checks run in the background through ViziCAL Apply. Their results appear in the History tab with the trigger auto checks, and the display's card shows Auto cal check: with the date of the last check. See The main window.
If a display fails several automatic checks in a row, ViziCAL Apply tells you, so you can recalibrate it in ViziCAL. Displays calibrated through their own LUT (such as WIDE displays) are never recalibrated through the graphics card instead.
Register the photometer position (LG)¶
LG displays need ViziCAL to find where the built-in photometer sits on the screen. Until then, scheduled checks can't run, and this section shows One or more displays does not have a registered photometer location.
- Click Resolve.
- Keep the mouse pointer off the display while ViziCAL searches.
ViziCAL saves the position, so you only do this once for each display. WIDE displays don't need it.
